Housing Resource Center and Homeless Hotline: Individuals and families who are homeless or facing the risk of being homeless are encouraged to call the homeless hotline, which is managed by the Housing Resource Center of St. Louis City and County. Services include helping people achieve stability in safe, affordable, permanent housing as well as access to emergency shelter and services. The hotline is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Safe Kids: Led by Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital, Safe Kids provides car seat checkups and safety information to providers, parents, and caregivers regarding child safety and injury prevention. Kid Central TN: This is a “one-stop shop” for connections to important state information and resources. You can find articles about health, education, development, and support. You will also find a comprehensive directory of services for children and families. www.Kidscentraltn.com
Tennessee Poison Center: 1-800-222-1222 A comprehensive poison resource center that provides statewide emergency information and support. The website, www.tnpoisoncenter.org also has great articles and educational information. There are even links for children’s online games to help your children understand more about poison prevention.
Tennessee County Health Departments: Offer basic health services including immunizations, well child visits, family planning, Sexually Transmitted disease testing, WIC and nutrition services. For TennCare, there are now kiosks to connect you to the healthcare exchange website. The Parent Helpline: 1-800-CHILDREN This is a hotline provided by Prevent Child Abuse Tennessee which can answer any question you have that is parenting related. Operators are supportive, caring individuals who can provide information and referrals for those experiencing problems or if you just need to talk.
